In His Words
Adam Whitesides | Bellevue East Scholarship Recipient
My name is Adam Whitesides. I’m a graduating senior who received the Frank Kumor Memorial scholarship. This will help shape my future monumentally, as it will help pay for over a third of my college tuition and help me afford tools for my future as an auto technician. I plan on going to Metro Community College and participating in the Toyota T-Ten program. This will be a big step to further my progress to becoming a contributing member of society and a good technician.
Some things I’ve learned from high school is discipline, hard work and what I want to do in life. Playing football, wrestling and track has given me a good work ethic and the ability to push through even when I don’t think I’m able.
I’ve had many coaches and teachers who’ve shaped who I am today and I’m deeply grateful for all of them. The most influential people I’ve met in high school have been Coach Porter, Coach Liess, Coach Higgs and Coach Lovell. They’ve all made a big impact on my life.
Mr. Gengal is also a big influence in my life. He is a great teacher and a great person, he has helped me further my education and push me in the right direction. My parents have also been a great impact on my life, they’ve always been there and supported me with all the choices I’ve made and I’m super lucky to have the opportunities presented to me.
I’d also like to thank Frank Kumor’s family for giving me the chance to win the scholarship and I’m very grateful to be receiving this.
